The 5 stages of the development of storage shelves

In recent years, my country's warehousing industry has developed rapidly. With the rapid increase in the number of online shopping, online payment, and mobile electronic merchants, more and more companies have begun to aggressively enter the warehousing industry. More and more logistics companies realize that without a strong warehousing resource network and the ability to control and manage logistics warehouses, it is difficult to develop into a competitive large-scale enterprise.

Today, KEENPACE briefly introduces the five major stages of the development of storage shelves and their respective characteristics. Since the United States applied computer control technology to three-dimensional warehouses in 1963 and built the world’s first automated warehouse, the development of automated warehouses can be divided into five stages: manual warehousing, mechanized warehousing, automated warehousing, and integrated warehousing. , Intelligent automated warehousing stage.

(1) Manual storage stage

The transportation, storage, management and control of materials in the warehouse are mainly realized manually, and its advantages are real-time and intuitive. Artificial storage technology also has advantages in the economic indicators of initial equipment investment.

(2) Mechanized storage stage

Move and carry through various conveyor belts, industrial conveyors, manipulators, cranes, stackers and elevators, store materials with rack pallets and movable shelves, access equipment through manual operation, use limit switches, and screw mechanical brakes And mechanical monitors and other control equipment operation. Mechanization meets people's requirements for speed, accuracy, height, weight, repeated access and handling.

(3) Automated warehousing stage

From the late 1950s to the 1980s, automatic guided vehicles (AGV), automatic shelves, automatic access robots, automatic identification and automatic sorting, computer management systems and other automation technologies and systems were successively adopted, making the storage technology more efficient. Control and management have been greatly improved in terms of real-time, coordination, integration and information automation.

(4) Integrated automated warehousing stage

In an integrated automated warehouse, the automatic storage and retrieval system, the conveying system, and the automatic identification system are no longer independent systems, but are effectively integrated through computer technology and information technology, thus forming an organic whole.

(5) Intelligent automated warehousing stage

Automation technology that can autonomously drive intelligent machines to achieve control goals without human intervention. For many complex systems, it is difficult to establish effective mathematical models and use conventional control theories to perform quantitative calculations and analysis. Instead, it is necessary to adopt a control method that combines quantitative and qualitative methods.

At present, the intelligent storage technology is still in the initial stage of development, and the intelligent storage technology will have broad application prospects in the future.
